Pecan Steamed Milk – The Kid-Friendly Pecan Cortado Alternative
This Pecan Steamed Milk is a cozy, kid-friendly cortado alternative. Made with homemade pecan syrup and frothy milk, it's nutty, comforting, and completely caffeine-free.
This Pecan Steamed Milk is pure comfort in a cup. Imagine the nutty sweetness of homemade pecan syrup swirled into warm, frothy milk — a café-worthy treat that feels indulgent yet completely caffeine-free. It's essentially a pecan cortado without the coffee, making it the perfect Starbucks-style experience for kids or anyone avoiding caffeine.
The homemade pecan syrup couldn't be easier: toasted pecans, a blend of brown and white sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and just a hint of maple for depth. Once simmered and strained, it transforms into liquid gold — a syrup you'll want to drizzle over everything.
Ingredients
- 7 oz (200 ml) milk (2% or 3.25%)
- 1 oz (30 ml) pecan syrup
- 3/4 cup (85g) pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) white sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp maple syrup, optional (adds depth)
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1
Toast chopped pecans in a dry saucepan over medium heat until fragrant (3–5 minutes).
- 2
Add water, both sugars, cinnamon, optional maple syrup and salt. Stir and bring to a boil.
- 3
Lower heat and simmer ~10 minutes.
- 4
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
- 5
Strain into a jar or bottle; cool. Use leftover pecans for garnish.
- 6
Store refrigerated up to 2 weeks.
- 7
Steam milk and pour over 1 oz of the syrup made above. If you don't have a steamer, bring the milk to simmer then pulse in a blender until foamy. Enjoy!
