Refreshing strawberry margaritas made with fresh berries, tequila, lime juice, and a homemade simple syrup base. Ready in minutes and easily made virgin. Just delicious. I typically make mine a mocktail.

Strawberry Margarita preparation step 1

Ingredients

Servings:
1
  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 2 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz lime cordial
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup

Instructions

  1. 1

If you don't have simple syrup, feel free to make it by bringing 1/2 cup (100g) sugar and 1/4 cup (60ml) water to a boil over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside and allow it to cool completely before using. This will make many drinks, not just this one!

  2. 2

Muddle the strawberries in a bowl. Add them to a shaker, along with tequila and triple sec (or water for a virgin version), lime juice, lime cordial, and simple syrup. Shake well.

  3. 3

Coat the rim of a margarita cup with lime juice and sugar, fill it with crushed ice. Pour the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass. Enjoy immediately.

FAQ

Can you make strawberry margaritas ahead of time?+
You can prep the muddled strawberries and keep them in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but it's best to shake and serve the drink fresh—otherwise the ice melts and dilutes the flavors.
What can I use instead of triple sec?+
You can substitute with Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or any other orange liqueur in the same amount; if you want to skip it entirely, add an extra 1/2 oz of lime juice for tartness.
Can I use bottled lime juice instead of fresh?+
Fresh lime juice will give you a brighter, more balanced margarita, but bottled works in a pinch—just use the same amount and taste as you go since bottled can be more acidic.
What's the best way to rim the glass?+
Rub a lime wedge around the rim, then dip it into a shallow dish of Tajín seasoning or salt; this adds a nice savory-spicy contrast to the sweet strawberry drink.
